Why the Queen of Mean is an unsung business hero

One book I highly recommend everyone in business gets is:

“No Rules: 21 Giant Lies About Success and How to Make It Happen Now”

It’s a Dan Kennedy classic.

And, there is one story in particular I’ve been thinking about, doing my level best to practice (inasmuch as my resources have allowed), and constantly been inspired by since first reading it almost 20 years ago.

A story that, quite literally, gives Yours Crotchety goose flesh whenever I think about it.

Here’s the short version:

Dan talks about how he had a seminar at a Leona Helmsley hotel. He arrived late in the afternoon, and barely had much time to set his displays up, shower, etc. But for whatever reason the hotel decided to move his prestigious (and no doubt expensive) preassigned room to a basement hellhole.

Nothing was set up the way it was supposed to be.

And the banquet manager was being quite the bytch to him to the point where she was not only uncooperative with him, but hid from him after telling the entire hotel staff not to lift a finger to help him.

So what did Dan do?

He went to the courtesy phone and got put through directly to Leona Helmsley.

Here’s what he said happened after he told her his story:

===

She said, “It will be taken care of. Put the front desk manager on the phone with me.” I stood there and watched the blood drain out of his face. Ten minutes later, an army had materialized to attend to my needs. A meeting room was transformed at lightning speed. The next morning, the new front desk manager asked me what had gone on there. I asked him what he knew. “Not much,” he said, “except that everyone on this staff was fired. Our whole crew here today was flown in from New York last night to take their place.”

===

That’s what I’m talkin’ about.

And here’s something to think about:

Despite the Queen of Mean's reported evil reputation & deeds, is there any doubt in your mind that hotel & Leona herself — via Dan telling his story to anyone who would listen (including in his best selling book) — made many millions of dollars more in new & repeat business than it ended up costing them to service Dan and make things right?

There ain’t a doubt in my mind.

And it’s a huge inspiration for what’s taught inside the December “Email Players” issue too.

It’s some extremely valuable training, if’n I do say so myself.

The kind of info that — in my opinion — you can’t NOT get lots of new business with if you but do it, think it through, and aren't a shallow thinker about it. That’s certainly been the case for my business. It’s been the case for certain other businesses I know too. And I believe it can potentially be the case for you, too, Chuckles.

Yes, no matter what niche/industry you’re in.

And no matter what product/service you sell.

That is, if you’re subscribed in time to get it before tomorrow’s deadline.

After that, it’ll be too late.

Here’s where to subscribe while the subscribins’ good:
