Ben,
Figured you'd get a kick out of this:
As you might recall, I was head of copy and content at [a $4 billion company]. Cut the cord about a month ago to do my own thing.
The CMO personally called me yesterday. His words, not mine: "What do we need to do to get you back?" Though flattering, it feels damn good to confidently say, "There's nothing you can do," despite the name-your-price attitude.
Sure, they have a mind-boggling budget. But I'm doing far better off without them. In fact, I almost doubled my pay (including a bump for bonuses and benefits) month one on my lonesome.
Couldn't have done it without studying you: I'm banging out sales pages, emails, and blogs that are converting like crazy. And I'm getting sh*t done at light-speed. All of which allows me to double and triple my income in a jiffy. Also allows me to charge top-dollar, skip on deals I don't want, and feel stable and safe during the COVID chaos.
You get the idea.
Again, sharing because the speed and the sales would be an issue without you. I'd be good, not great. And way too much like 99% of the other freelancers out there, who can't do what we do.
Translation: You're the man.
Thanks for helping me have a life — not a living.
Sent from the beachfront in Encinitas, CA. Sand between my toes and what not. Third time here this week because no one tells me what to do, anymore.
Feel free to share: Please leave out ___name. You can refer to it as a $4B company, or whatever else you'd like.
Thanks!
