Why you don’t need a copywriting coach

Hi, Ben. I thought I would share some thoughts about business coaches:
I saw one of your videos a while ago. I think it was on your app. You said that people who get coaches never seem to be farther ahead than anybody else. I can attest to this. I’ve spent so much money on coaches (the $ amount makes me cry), and they never made that big of a difference. They left me with more debt and more frustrated than before. They created false expectations of what I could achieve, and then when I didn’t achieve it, I felt frustrated and angry. They sold me programs and services that I DID NOT NEED.
Well, I’ve learned my lesson. I’ve made a resolution to not invest in any more business coaching, at least for now. Maybe coaches have their place, and maybe some people benefit from them, but apparently I don’t. I take responsibility for my actions and my lack of success, but I can’t believe how little they taught me about direct-response marketing, how they didn’t give me guidance, and how they never told me obvious truths. To put it in perspective, I learned more about business in your last issue of E-mail Players than I did in a program that cost $5,000.
If I could go back, I would have subscribed to E-mail Players (I first heard about it on Tom Wood’s show back in, oh, 2016), focused on my YouTube channel (which is actually producing some clients), and ignored everything else. What is producing most of my success? Reading E-mail Players, making better videos, writing better e-mails, and getting better every day. Too bad none of those coaches ever told me something so obvious. Show up, get better, repeat. Maybe that’s too unsexy.
Anyway, I thought I would share that. You can use this as content for a future e-mail.

The timing of this was almost Halloween-eery.
And the reason why is, the November “Email Players” issue is all about how to achieve mastery as a copywriter — without needing any coaching, one-on-one help, or guidance.
Like Kevin says, maybe some people do need coaches.
But, also like Kevin mentioned:
It’s rather astonishing how many people spending a fortune on coaches - even to the tune of $25k, $50k, or more - never seem to be all that better off than they were originally.
All right, enough ticking off coaches for fun & profit.
If you want the November “Email Players” issue, time is short.
I’m sending it to the printer today.
You can subscribe while there’s still time here:
