How to protect your list from a “trigger happy” email company shutting you down for no reason

There's an Internet marketer I used to mastermind with who once had a huge, thriving email list in a fitness-related niche. He made a decent income from that list (probably more than 95% of other online marketers). And, all was well in his business — with the birds chirping, the pigeons crowing, and the sun shining & stars twinkling in the midst.
Then, one day, his biggest nightmare happened:
His auto-responder company shut him down!
Admittedly he did have unusually high spam complaints, but not as many as a lot of others in his industry. And it was a case where he was there one day, and the next they dropped his account which he'd had for several years like a bad habit.
Worst part?
He never backed up his lists.
He always knew he could and should back up his lists. But it was just kind of a pain in the gluteus bootyus manually logging in and doing it. (I am the same way — it just is not one of those things I was ever been very good at doing consistently — too tedious).
Thus, his entire business was wiped out.
In a single day.
All because of some nervous nellie employee he'd never meet.
And this was at one of the better email autoresponder companies, not one of the flake-converged ones who de-platform businesses because some idiot complains about them on Twitter or whatever.
It was a huge wake up call for me.

Troy Broussard was telling me how there's some really simple ways to use Zapier to not only automate practically all your email automation… but also auto back up/export your list in real time automatically.
As he put it:
“Imagine every single person that opts into your platform, just immediately getting that same information shuffled over onto a Google Sheet and having that ongoing real-time backup of your data so that you can sleep easy at night and not worry about something happening or being de-platformed or having access to everything that you need. And so that can be very, very useful. But it really goes beyond just backing up.”
