The egotistical elBenbo Style of copy & content creation

A true story for the marketing ages:

A lot of people give the late Stan Lee all the credit for building the Marvel Universe. And while he does deserve a lot of that credit — maybe even most of it — he didn’t do it alone. And in many interviews and in books about him, he was always very aggressive about making sure the artists he was blessed to work with were given their due credit.

Especially after he created what the industry calls:

“The Marvel Style”

That is not referring to a style for artwork or writing.

But… of overall content creation.

Here’s the story:

Not long after Stan Lee had a handful of hits on his hands back in the early 60’s with Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Dr. Strange, X-Men, etc… he realized two things: (1) he didn’t have enough time to write the full comicbook scripts for the burgeoning number of titles he’d created and was writing each month (2) because of that, the longer it took, the worse it was for the artists… since they weren’t getting paid, since there was no scripts to draw.

The solution?

The Marvel Style.

What that meant was, he worked with the artists in a way where he basically wrote a short plot of what he wanted to happen in an issue. Sometimes, it was a detailed plot… and sometimes it was a 5-minute phone call or office doorway conversation. And that meant, many of the most memorable early Marvel Comics stories were “told” mostly by the artists, rather than Stan. And the reason why is, the artist would draw the story however he wanted, telling the story via the pictures, and Stan would then go back and add the dialogue, not knowing at all what that story would look like exactly before he got the artwork.

This became the way all Marvel writers & artists worked eventually.

But not just due to the constraints of time.

But also because they realized they got much better stories (i.e., content) that way.

And in the October “Email Players” issue I show you exactly how to adapt this “Marvel Style” used to create fascinating & high-selling content to creating & maintaining your own Marketing “Universe” — that you can apply to your own emails, sales letters, and other written content — whether you create your own marketing & content or if you do freelance & coaching type work.

I am egotistically calling it “The elBenbo Style.”

And, yes, your mileage may vary of course.

But doing this has helped me bang out books, copy, and other content extremely fast.

I don’t do it for shorter things.

But, for example, it’s how I quickly wrote my “Copy Troll” and “Affiliate Launch Copynomicon” books. It’s also how some of my highest converting sales letters were written, too. And I even used the elBenbo Style earlier this year to quickly create an email launch campaign that came out to some 200 pages of email content.

The elBenbo Style also helps keep a sense of continuity in your marketing.

(i.e., continuity of personality, voice, sales copy, teaching style, etc.)

All is revealed about this in the October “Email Players” issue.

An issue that was, in many ways, 20-years in the making.

But you can see it all condensed down into 17-pages.

That is, if you are subscribed to “Email Players.”

And, specifically, if you are subscribed by the deadline.
