The real reason Alfred Hitchcock’s movies made so much money

I recently finished a fascinating book called:

“Backstory 1”

It’s the first of four volumes.

And it contains several in-depth interviews with some of the most successful Hollywood “Golden Age” screenwriters who ever lived — including the psychology behind their scripts, the business & politics behind the scenes, and the success secrets behind some of the biggest blockbuster movies of their time.

I highly recommend it for any writer.

But, I also highly recommend it for any marketer, too.

The insights & lessons are not only extremely thought-provoking, but can be extremely profitable, too. Take, for example, an interview inside with screenwriter Richard Maibaum, where he dropped a zinger about a conversation he had with Alfred Hitchcock.

Here is what he said:

===

[Hitchcock] said to me, “Did you read what we’ve got?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “What did you think about it?” I replied, “It’s not very logical.” He grimaced and said, “Oh, dear boy, don’t be dull. I’m not interested in logic. I’m interested in effect. If the audience ever thinks about logic, it’s on their way home after the show, and by that time, you see, they’ve paid for their tickets.”

===

A wise marketer can put that info to good use.

Although, be warned:

If you’re as ruthless about that as Hitchcock, you may find yourself overrun with refunds…

Either way, speaking of Hitchcock:

Tomorrow is the deadline to subscribe to “Email Players” in time for the September issue

It talks more about Hitchcock, too.

Especially his movies The Birds and Rear Window, which are essentially “templates” for some of the highest selling & most engaging emails I have ever penned, and that you can use for your own business & audience-building purposes.

It’s easily one of the most valuable purely email-writing topic issues to date.

And I believe those subscribed in time to get it can profit immensely from it.
