Sales seduction secrets of a 40-year old virgin
Published: Thu, 09/17/20
(Easily one of the best 3 or 4 greatest copywriters who ever lived)
In the interview I mentioned earlier today, the great John Carlton mentioned something about how Jim Rutz was like a copywriting contradiction:
He was probably more in touch with the human experience than anyone.
Yet, he was 100% self-exiled from the culture.
For example, in the interview John says:
“When I found out [Jim] was still a virgin, at the tender age of whatever it was, 40 at the time? I’m not sure. That just baffled me. It was like, ‘Wait, you live in America, in this orgy time.’”
Jim also apparently didn’t even own a TV.
May or may not have listened to music or talk radio, either.
And, would get popular sayings completely wrong without realizing it.
Yet, despite all this, he was wired into the human experience in such a way where he could pound out control ads with such a hair-raising degree of consistency, he would often work on pure commission, with no upfront fee, against the most successful & talented A-list copywriters in the world.
He was a complete original in every way.
And there is no “how to think like Jim Rutz” manual or book.
The only way to even get close to it is by listening to people who worked directly with him talk about him, as well as by imbibing, and then re-imbibing, the ads he wrote over his career.
Which brings me to the punchline:
You can get the interview above and 200+ of Jim’s ads in the “Read This Or Die” swipe file.
Plus, if you buy from my affiliate link by the deadline below, I’ll give you something extremely valuable.
Here is the deal:
If you buy the Jim Rutz “Read This Or Die” swipe file from my affiliate link below before Sunday, September 20th at midnight EDT… and if you send me your receipt *by* that deadline (not just buy the swipe file by that deadline, but also send me your receipt by that deadline), I will email you back a valuable bonus eBook:
“Ravings of an Adman!”
This eBook is a compilation of Email Players inserts I did a couple years ago that were wildly popular and, in some ways, more tactically-useful than the issues they were included with.
Anyway, it’s yours for the taking.
That is, if you send your receipt to me by the above deadline.
