Trump the Aristotle of copywriting?

Published: Sat, 05/30/20

One of the more profitable & useful copywriting insights I have learned over the last few years (hat tip to Vox Day, whose darkstreams on the subject have made it especially practical) has to do with becoming more aware of — and deliberately & strategically using in tandem — the two kinds of persuasion according to the Greek philosopher Aristotle:

1. Rhetoric

2. Dialectic

I’m not going to get deep into the differences here.

But, for examples of rhetoric, simply listen to Donald Trump or read his tweets.

He’s so astonishingly adept at using rhetoric, he’s almost like the Aristotle of copywriting. And if your first reaction is to roll your eyes at that, then you my friend are very likely letting your aversion to the man blind you to some free advanced lessons about persuasion & influence.

But what of this dialectic business?

To see examples of that, dig up some Ron Paul interviews.

There is a reason why both have passionate followings — but why the former has an exponentially bigger following than the latter.

But, I can also tell you, dialectic can still be extremely effective in emails & sales copy, too.

The key is to know what ratio of both to use.

And, how to “interweave” them together in a way where the reader does not notice it’s going on (sales copy that calls attention to itself is usually dead in the water the moment it does)… at just the right place when needed.

And guess what?

This topic is explained in gloriously detail in the June “Email Players” issue.

I have been playing with and experimenting with using both in a secret way I have never heard or seen another copywriting teacher, coach, or author talk about before. Obviously, that does not mean nobody else has, it just means I haven't seen anyone do it. But, in the not-so-hallowed pages of the June issue (pages 14-17) I not only explain how this works, but show you an example showing you exactly where and how I used each in one of my most successful sales letters.

This ain’t for the small thinking copywriters just swiping and copying, obviously.

But the grownups’ll love it.

The deadline to subscribe in time to get it is tomorrow, Zeus.
