Why 7 isn’t the best number to use in pricing

Published: Sun, 04/05/20

Many moons ago, the recently departed legendary marketer Ted Nicholas did a bunch of tests that showed ending your prices with 7 converted best.

And since then, a lot of people only use 7’s in their prices.

Yes, even elBenbo does for my main offer.

Although, I did it for different reasons — I just like the number — and will be changing this eventually due to all the people mindlessly copying my price for their continuity offers, watering it down for everyone. If you want to see dumb money herd think, look no further than the internet marketing community — followed closely by shallow-thinking copywriters obsessed with “swiping.” But, my liking the number 7 is why I also use it in my novels, for example, with each novel in the 7 book series having 14 chapters broken down into 7 parts.

Anyway, does 7 really out-convert other numbers?

Probably for some people it does.

But in almost 20 years up in this business, I have yet to see a single marketer who has done a statistically relevant test on it.

Either way, it’s not necessarily the number doing the selling.

Pricing is a much more fickle animal than people give it credit for.

And it’s probably the number one question I get asked by “Email Players” subscribers who have the privilege to ask me questions by email about topics I am qualified to talk about. Pricing, however, is not something I am all that qualified to talk about for anyone but me. This is something that frustrates my Email Players of the Horde sometimes. But until someone “gets” that pricing has very little to do with tacking a 7 or a 9 onto something, or copying what someone else is doing in their pricing, or what I or anyone else prices things at… there isn’t much I can do to help.

But you want to know who is qualified to talk about this?

The man mysteriously known as:

“The Pricing Guy”

That’s the name Michael Senoff gave to this obscure pricing expert for an interview he did for Michael’s big ticket “how to be a consultant” program. I first heard it many years ago, and it’s had a huge impact on how I price. In fact, if you want to know why I price so many (not all, obviously) of my wares & offers so high, this interview is a big reason why.

Want to hear it?

And for a lot less of a PRICE than others get it for?

Then simply cease your evil, procrastinating ways and get Michael’s “Emergency Fast Cash” audios from my affiliate link below before tonight’s midnight PDT deadline. He normally sells it for $597, but you can have it for a mere $47 if you use my affiliate link before the deadline. You’ll get the entire series (of which the Pricing Guy’s interviews is just 1 of 39 methods for getting emergency cash flow for business people), plus you will also get:

“The Stefania Files: Volume 4”

This is the latest round of 10 private videos I recorded for my woman Stefania's (and sometimes her clients') marketing education. They add up to over two hours of pure content. And they are, in their own way, some of the most valuable trainings I've ever done.

Anyway, to get the Emergency Fast Cash Audios plus these Stefania File: Volume 4 videos, go here before tonight’s (Sunday, April 5) midnight PDT deadline:

P.S. Here’s a “taste” of what you’ll get in the bonus Stefania Files: Volume 4 videos:

* Why a so-called “donkey balls” opt-in page I am testing gets the best and most profitable response.

* The micro lesson I would have taught the audience at Funnel Hacking Live if I’d spoken there when I was invited to last year.

* A 26-minute “crash course” on how almost anyone using email — newb or guru — can get maximum deliverability & engagement. (I was hopped up on the pre-workout in the car when I recorded this puppy — and in some ways, this is the single most valuable “email” lesson I can possibly teach anyone.)

* How to “resurrect” an email list you haven’t mailed in months and they don’t even remember who you are.

* The exact best time to start selling a subscription based offer if you’re a newbie.

* The secret Isaac Asimov technique used by the single most prolific author & copywriter on the planet to get superhuman amounts of work done and enjoy every minute of it.

* A chest-pounding lesson on how to turn a mere idea into a launched product that is making you sales within 30 days.

* Outrageously simple “what the hell?” ways to extinguish the evil, insidious mental disease known as “burnout” — so you can keep working and making sales over long periods of time while enjoying every minute of it.

* The clever secret to getting life-long customers who never want to leave you or forsake you.

* The un-sexy, “meat & potatoes” marketing secret to getting your spam complaints down to almost zero even if you send dozens of emails in a tight time frame.

* Why you should probably avoid any guru who plasters his Facebook page with pics of him wearing a name tag while haunting internet marketing seminars and conferences.

* The dirty little secret about selling to the low hanging fruit in your market that will keep you frustrated and struggling.

* 4 things I learned from the founding father of online advertising anyone can do to build a strong, thriving business with ZERO special skills, intelligence, creativity, money, having to buy a bunch of info products or coaching required

* An infamous MD’s “pre selling” secret to being the only business people buy from even if you aren’t the best marketer, copywriter, or salesman. (Admittedly this is a time intensive idea you’ll have to apply to your business, marketing, and branding — but it can potentially change everything very quickly for those who use it.)

* What extroverts can do to get a lot more work done.

* What introverts can do to get a lot more work done.

* The old dead copywriter secret to creating your own inner copywriting editor.
