How to get clients on accident?

“Email Players” subscriber Jonathan Twombly reveals a secret hidden benefit that is sometimes accidentally bestowed on those wise enough to subscribe to my wily ways:

===

I’ve learned so much from your stuff that one of my students who runs a 7-figure online products business wants to hire me as his copywriter.

I’m not even a copywriter. I just write for my own online product.

===

I do so love hearing stories like that.

Especially since it serves as an ironic contrast to those who foolishly and short-sightedly subscribe just looking for quick tips & tricks or, worse, “swipes!”… only to quit in utter disgust & disappointment soon after. But I suppose that is why those types of freelancers are perpetual freelancers in the first place, always trying to count cards in the Flakebook casino, instead of owning their own casino via building businesses that can far out grow their freelance income utilizing the talents they already possess.

Small thinkers and all.

In fact, here’s something I’ve begun to do deliberately:

Whenever a freelance copywriter sends me a testimonial about how following my unusual methods have benefited them, I oftentimes (depending on the person) wait several months before publishing it. And the reason why I do this is, I have come to realize that there are more would-be clients than I realized who read these emails who, after I publish one of these freelancer testimonials, sometimes will sally forth over to Google to read more about that freelancer to possibly hire them.

I don’t make any guarantees this will happen, of course.

But, since I don’t reward the quick-to-quit types:

I usually make sure a freelancer has been with me long enough to prove themselves as not being quitters. As an example: there was a testimonial from way back in January I wanted to use recently from a copywriter who got incredible results for himself and his clients, and admitted how much money elBenbo’s cheery ways have made him, how it’s made his life so much better, yada yada yada.

But, he quit after the villainous April 2019 issue.

i.e. the very issue that was both the most revered & reviled I ever published.

Needless to say, he won’t be getting any testimonial lovin’ from me. And, certainly not from any clients who may have have looked him up after reading his testimonial.

Immoral of the story:

Small thinking always equals small opportunities.

Whatever the case, Mr. Twombly’s testimonial above speaks for itself.

Do with it whatever you will.

In the meantime:

The December “Email Players” issue will be — I predict — just as polarizing as the April issue as far as enriching some and disgusting others.

Either way, the deadline is almost upon you.
