Half the trick of being a great copywriter
Published: Fri, 10/04/19
At the time, they were 2 of the top 3 or 4 copywriters on the planet.
And, there was a part where Jim said:
“Half the trick of being a good ad writer is being very careful in the selection of your parents...I was born in Aruba. I was evacuated out of there because the Nazis were shelling the place from their submarines, which few people knew about. But it was a strategic target with a big oil refinery down there, so I was shipped up to live with my grandparents, for a grand and glorious but snail-paced year.”
Apparently, his grandpa had a big influence on his thinking.
(That would later influence his copywriting.)
And, he also had a lot of professors and mentors who showed him how life fits together in unusual ways that, you can tell just by reading his ads, also had a gigantic influence on his copywriting.
Like, for example:
“My favorite college prof was a guy that would dance back and forth between quantum physics and 17th century French farming, and 14th century dentistry practices in Italy ... and the Far East, and their philosophies ... and told how it all fit together. It was just utterly spellbinding.”
Anyway, the point of all this?
Life experience and people that influence you can give you a huge advantage in marketing.
And if you study the greats at copywriting, you will see a similar theme.
Unfortunately, I did not have much of this.
Neither do most people, probably.
Thus, the way to work, think, and write like the Jim Rutz’s of the world is to study their lives and their copy. Something you can do in Jim’s case by getting your hot little paws on the “Read This Or Die” swipe file of his ads the great Brian Kurtz is selling on a USB thumb drive, and that I am selling as an affiliate until Sunday, October 6 at midnight EDT.
Plus:
If you buy from my affiliate link at the link below by that deadline… and if you send me your receipt by that deadline (not just buy it, but forward you receipt to me by the deadline), I will send you a valuable bonus:
“The Swiperoscope Saga: Part 1”
These videos contain almost 2.5 hours of Yours Rudely putting 5 of my favorite ads and sales letters in my private swipe file under the proverbial “microscope”, and analyzing them word-for-word.
In some ways, these are the most valuable bonuses I’ve ever offered.
Especially since I ended up re-learning or seeing whole new insights as I did them.
Anyway, they are yours for the taking.
That is, if you send your “Read This Or Die” receipt to me by the above deadline.
Here is my non-filtered affiliate link:
