The paradox of powerfully persuasive & pitiful criminal masterminds

“I’ve always been a disappointment, to others as well as myself.”

— Melik
AKA, the Villainous Criminal Mastermind Jamal
“Sinbad The Sailor”

One of the most fascinatingly persuasive Villains ever created in the opinion of your Friend & Daily Email Muse is Gollum, from The Lord of the Rings stories.

Here’s what I mean:

This mangy, pitiful wretch of a creature is about as far from being charismatic, powerful, or dominant as you can get. He is gangly, weighs probably 75 lbs soaking wet, and has no friends, allies, or supporters in the entire world… much less minions, soldiers, or armies at his command. Yet, he was still able to tap into an extremely powerful and effective Villainous Weapon of Persuasion that let him eventually get the One Ring back — even if only for a few moments — against all odds.

By all rights, he never should have gotten it.

But, he did.

And, he effectively “won” despite his obvious handicaps.

And guess what?

If you look around you’ll see many pitiful & wretched influential Villains using it:

Like the homicidal Stuntman Mike from Death Proof… and the nefarious Jamal in Sinbad The Sailor (if’n you’ve ever seen that classic movie)… and the psychopathic Alex in A Clockwork Orange… and the socially inept Robert Daly from Black Mirror, who all used this Villainous Weapon of Persuasion to get what they wanted.

You even see certain extremely influential people “in real life” do it.

* Like the great Jay Abraham

* Bill Clinton

* Abraham Lincoln

* And even President Trump
