Robert Downey Jr's life-saving bid'niz secret

lessons per week, plus practicing on my training dummy at home)
Wing Chun Kung Fu.
And, it's one of the best decisions I ever made.
Why?
Many reasons, babycakes.
But one big one is (that is relevant to you) there are a ton of
lessons from it that translate directly to business. (A lot of
highly creative and high performing people practice Wing Chun Kung
Fu -- including Robert Downey Jr who credits it with cleaning up
his drug addictions and life -- and I can see how that would be the
case).
Anyway, one big lesson is:
Balance.
When learning the first part of the form the first thing I learned
was how to keep my body in balance with gravity, so that I can draw
upon all that power when I need it. When your body is out of
balance with gravity (and practically everyone's is, I still have
to consciously think about it, although eventually I'll be at the
"unconscious competence level" with this) you are weaker. Have less
power. Are more easily moved, shoved, hit, and manipulated.
Not so when you're aligned with gravity.
When in the right stance, you're in perfect harmony with gravity.
It's hard to move your body. (Even if someone pushes on you or puts
all their weight on you.)
Your legs are like springs -- full of power.
Your arms are loaded with force.
And, you're basically ready to "do battle" (whether striking,
evading, or simply moving out of the way to get a better position)
with anything that tries to attack you. Plus, you will be using
only the energy and strength you need to do whatever it is you have
to do ("less is more" as I'm being taught over and over and over,
even as I continue to overcomplicate the movements...)
Anyway, that's balance.
'tis a beautiful thing, too, my little Droogie.
And, yes, it's the same in bid'niz.
When your business is out of balance, you're going to be
miserable, feel awkward, overworked, tired, and will be much weaker
than when you are in balance.
Example?
Okay, hot shot.
I'll give you an example.
And example straight from the life of a friend whose life went all
out of balance in business and the hellish existence that followed.
It's the subject of tomorrow's podcast.
So stay tuned my little droogie.
