Why this batty left wing governor may be the world’s greatest affiliate marketer

Something to think about:

Earlier this year, the governor of my state Kate Brown's “get the jab” product launch campaign was almost - but not quite, as you will see - a master class for affiliate marketers in how to offer bonuses to get people to buy from their affiliate link.

This is not (entirely) trolling on my part either.

I sincerely mean it in many ways.

For example, here is an ad, er, I mean article that ran in the lapdog media Oregonlive's newspaper:

===

Gov. Kate Brown’s office, meanwhile, is trying to make getting a shot more appealing by promising even more prizes, with only those who’ve received a shot eligible.

On top of the existing prizes, which include a $1 million pay-out, Brown’s office promised four travel packages to classic sites in Oregon, worth about $2,000 each. Ten counties have also decided to put up more than $700,000 in prizes and scholarships for people who have received shots by June 28 -- the day of the drawing.

“If you have been waiting to get vaccinated, go get it done today,” Brown said in a statement. “It’s never been easier to get a vaccine, so don’t miss your shot to enter.”

A shrewd use of premiums to sway the proletariat.

But she wasn’t the only governor showing massive marketing chops.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine joined her at the top of the big pharma product launch “leaderboard.”

Not to be outdone:

He talked about a $1 million lottery each week for five weeks, via randomly taking names from the voter registration rolls and giving away the cash only to winners who got the jab. He also did another drawing offering four years of free state college tuition, room, board and books.

As he put it:

“I know that some of you now are shaking your head and saying ‘That Mike DeWine, he’s crazy! This million-dollar drawing idea of yours is a waste of money,’ But truly, the real waste at this point in the pandemic — when the vaccine is readily available to anyone who wants it — is a life lost now to COVID-19.”

I admittedly got some nostalgic warm fuzzies over that one.

His prancing around bribing people into getting the jabs with weekly $1 million lottery tickets, almost sounds like one of those 1980's car dealers going on local TV with a sledgehammer - breaking car windows on his own lot to reduce the price and get people in for his “CRAZY deals!”

But alas, it didn’t work out the way they’d planned.

Recently, a Fast Company article put a damper on the big pharma affiliate leader board:

“Despite their glitz and glamour, the seven-figure cash prizes dangled by more than a dozen states over the past few months have seemingly failed to boost COVID-19 vaccination numbers in meaningful ways.”

Which brings up another point:

Using bonuses & premiums is wise and better than not doing it.

But, they still have to be bonuses in exchange for an offer people want.

And certainly not an offer being pushed on people who're rightfully super skeptical as it is.

All right, enough jabs to the politicians' souls.

I will leave you with this:

If you know what you’re doing in the affiliate game, you don’t really need to have the best bonuses and premiums.

Yes, they certainly help and should be used.

But what I believe can work even better — bribes or no bribes — is the info inside the upcoming September “Email Players” issue. It’s all about applying 6G Marketing Warfare (a term I invented and have been teaching this year inside the pages of Email Players), that can especially work well with product launch, affiliate, and other marketing campaigns.

This is extremely potent information.

Maybe not “new” information.

But I believe the way the info is combined is unique.

And if you apply it, I also believe your business will get lots of new business.

We shalt see.

At least, for those subscribed in time before the deadline.
