Cruel marketing email inspires fan fiction

A reader took issue with yesterday's "Defeated men I refuse to sell to" email:

That was a bit cruel IMO. I get it's exhausting dealing with the handholding, i do. It's an every day thing when your have little kids. And these people are just like little kids only they have life experiences that are complete shit. Not saying your aren't right to direct them to the competition to save yourself the headache of dealing with a grown ass man who needs to man up. What i an saying is that being a dick if/when the US socially implodes is going to get your dead by people like that who have lots of redneck friends that stick together again people who have that shit attitude that reeks of New York smugness. Yes, i went off on a story tangent to illustrate the point of being a little nicer. Remember the walking dead? Everyone makes fun of the perceived redneck biker type as being useless or crass. Yet when the shit got real he was the only one who was constantly with a damn. Same could be said if a little hand holding to make
this guy a fucking rock star to show that if he can do it, anyone can.

That there sounds like some dayem fine self-projecting fan fiction.

The irony:

I agree with almost everything he said about who is going to thrive when the US implodes.

And, in fact, I have a video in my app on this very subject.

But how my new pal - who sounds like he envisions himself as Daryl the zombie slayer? - got “redneck” out of the guy I was quoting in yesterday's email is beyond me.

Something else:

After reading Daryl's reply above, I am now wondering if maybe we grow our so-called rednecks different ‘round here in the Pacific Northwest. Especially in my jerkwater town of 2,000 people with nary a city-slicker in sight, other than tourists and a few transplants like Stefania - and even she has “gone native” since being here. Because I can’t think of a single person he's referring to here looking for hand-holding, much less wanting to be a “rockstar” or whatever.

If anything, it’s always just the opposite:

Guys like me seek out their advice on what they know.

Whatever the case, I do enjoy some good fan fiction.

And Daryl did not disappoint...

All right, onward to the business:

When using my “Email Players” methodology, one thing you may very well experience — if you are doing it right — is off-the-wall replies to daily emails that range from so inane they make zero sense whatsoever... to wall-of-text angry troll replies full of angry-pushup passion... to intelligent replies that lead to even deeper insights in your topic... to testimonials... and, yes, even straight up fan mail.

And no matter what happens it's good for you.

For one thing, it means you’re doing something right.

Gmail tends to like to see people replying to your emails, too.

And if they happen to send you some self-projecting fan fiction, even better.
