The go-to tech guy that keeps my business from frying in internet hell

Many years ago, I heard an audio cassette (yes, cassette) of John Carlton and the late Gary Halbert talking about:

“The Go-To Guy.”

This is the guy you call when something HAS to be done or else you, your loved ones, or someone else close to you spends an eternity in hell.

The scenario they talked about went like this:

* You are given a task.

* You don’t know what the task is.

* You don’t know if it’s hard or easy.

* You don’t know if it requires strength or wit (or both).

* You don’t even know if it requires killing someone, stealing something, committing some other kind of heinous crime, needing lots of money, or just picking something up somewhere and dropping it off.

Frankly, you don’t really know anything about the task.

All you DO know is there is a task, and you can’t do it yourself.

Who you gonna call?

Admittedly, most people will never need a Go-To Guy.

And, even fewer people have one.

I am not even sure I do.

But, I do have one in at least one part of my business. And that person is my go-to tech guy — “Email Players” subscriber Keith Commins. For the past 6 or 7 years, he’s been the guy I call whenever I have any question, task, or job that is tech-related. He does all that for me so I can focus on doing what I do best:

Writing and bringing in sales.

What kind of tech-related things does Keith do for my business?

And, not just business, for me, personally?

Here are a few examples:

* Hooks up and manages any merchant account nightmares (including sitting on the phone with the support of my various merchant accounts, which happens whenever one of their systems takes a dump out of the blue) until the problems are sorted

* Connects my business with services like cloudflare, my shopping cart, Zapier, any other 3rd party software, etc

* Designs & codes all my sales letters, 1-Click upsells in the cart, and takes care of all my pre-launch tasks of that nature

* Helps me do major platform changes (most recently switching my email provider from Gmail to Protonmail, for example)

* Even takes possession of my computer at times remotely to fix things that go wrong on that end, or to help get more efficiency out of my machines (including my phone)

* Not to mention giving me advice on all-other things tech & software

And those are just a few things.

He’s my tech Go-To guy through and through.

And that’s why I recently invited him to be a monthly trainer on our Profit Pirates calls — to give advice, answer questions, and give guidance on all the little ticky tack stuff above for people (to the extent he can on a recorded Q&A call, of course) and other things that pop up.

Like, for example, what to do if your hosting goes down during a launch?

Or how should you go about changing your email provider?

Or what tips does he have for dealing with merchant accounts?

And what kind of hosting, software, tools, etc does he recommend?

And the list goes on and on.

I thought it’d just be extremely cool to be able to offer this kind of monthly “Website Tuneup” advice with the ONLY programmer I let anywhere near my own business to our Profit Pirates clients. Keith has also done a lot of work for Troy, too, as well as our various software ventures. And he is one of the only programmers alive who is both well-versed in direct response marketing (including my Email Players wiles —he’s been a subscriber for years) and “gets” what direct response marketing-driven sites require.

You ain’t gonna find someone like that on friggin’ Upwork.

In fact, get a load of this:

Many years ago, Daniel Levis used to write a weekly column for the late Clayton Makepeace’s site. And I remember Daniel writing something about outsourcing to 3rd world countries to save money. And, I further remember that turning into a shyt show in the comments with a couple losers in the coding business lamenting how evil it was to save money by doing as such, and how they couldn’t feed their families on such low fees in America and Australia, they can’t compete because of evil capitalists like Daniel going with cheap help, etc.

And it’s funny to think about.

Because Keith is in Ireland.

And while he does travel all over the place, he ain’t exactly cheap.

In fact, I pay him a fat retainer each month just for the PRIVILEGE of paying him more money when I need something done.

Yes, I literally pay him a retainer just so I have a spot on his schedule.

I get very little for that fat retainer other than a little tweak on the site here or there.

And I’m happy as a pig in pewp about it, too.

Because having a guy like him “on call” has saved me not only tens of thousands of dollars, but God-only-knows how much peace of mind over the years.

But as a Profit Pirate you get access via your questions without paying his retainer.

It’s bundled in with your monthly fee with the coaching.

Speaking of which:

That coaching program fee ain’t gonna get cheaper.

It’s already quite pricey.

And come tomorrow night (July 9) at midnight EDT it’s getting a whole helluva lot pricier.
