How to combat fake local news

Been amusing watching one of the local newspapers so blatantly trying to keep up with the narrative of their Media Maestros who obviously give them marching orders:
Curry Pilot headline on 3/4: "County returns to moderate-risk tier"
Curry Pilot headline on 3/5: "Curry could see ‘extreme’ restrictions soon"
Stefania wants me to buy the newspaper.
And I am seriously considering it in the future if circumstances permit.
If so, I would turn it into the most right wing newspaper in the entire country. I'd go hardcore Charles Foster Kane in the approach, but bent to my ideologies of course.

To which my business partner Troy Broussard said:
“Better than buying it, just create a real paper to compete with it instead... the truth woule easily win out and you'd put it right out of business. Plus, it would so much easier to promote and publish it... haha... "us vs. them" all the way to the bank. Would be SOOOO much more fun Mr. Ben Settle”
To which it dawned on me:
Screw that — I’ll just create a local Lair via our SocialLair platform.
Duh.
Much easier to simply create a Lair, and use local ad methods to drive locals to it, and have my own virtual newspaper that way.
And so it shall it be should I get motivated enough…
Anyway, the reason I bring this up is twofold:
1. It shows one of probably hundreds of uses for SocialLair — i.e., in this case, create your own local news outlet you control, and not the media, big tech, or anyone else.
The SocialLair sales page lists several non-business ways to use the platform.
Like, for example:
Creating a Lair just for your local business community… forming a neighborhood watch Lair… or launching a political campaign Lair, media kit Lair, author Lair, job or executive headhunter Lair, professional networking Lair, hobbyist Lair (you can potentially even charge “dues” for)… and so on.
The opportunities are truly endless.
2. To remind you about tomorrow’s deadline to get your free test drive.
Here’s how it works:
1. This week (until Friday June 11 at midnight EDT, or possibly earlier depending on demand) you can get a free test drive of it — after which free test drives will be closed for a while to “iron out” any lingering bugs & glitches, etc
2. Use it, fill it with content, even post ads inside & show it to your clients & colleagues if you want… and see if it “clicks” for you — with no credit card needed, and zero obligation
3. If you decide to subscribe during this test drive… you can have it for $35/month instead of the $50+/month it will cost in the future. Plus you will be “grandfathered” in for life at that price forever. (Barring any sudden rise in hard costs imposed on our systems due to 3rd party forces beyond our control — which is highly unlikely.)
Bottom line:
If’n you want to test drive it free, I highly recommend you do it today.
After multiple software launches I’ve seen how it ain’t like info products.
By that I mean, you don’t want thousands of people piling in right away. That only makes for a lot of frustrated & unhappy customers. It’s much better to grow slowly and roll out over time. Thus, the Friday deadline to get your free test drive may get abruptly shortened without warning. And, even people who get in for the test drive may not be able to buy for a while if you linger too long to make a decision once inside. And of course if that happens where we close it early due to demand… and you wait too long to buy it after taking your test drive, you will miss out on the above savings.
We shalt see how it goes.
Really, it all depends on the demand.
So this does not favor the procrastinator.
