A business move of Herculean stupidity
Published: Thu, 06/10/21
Back in February, actor Kevin Sorbo — who played Hercules on TV, and who is politically conservative — announced that Facebook deleted his official account with over half a million followers. For whatever reason Facebook cooked up to do it, they decided he had to go.
And just like that, Hercules was defeated.
But it gets even better.
Right afterwards, he went to Twitter and said:
“BREAKING: Facebook has deleted my official account with over 500,000 followers. I have created a new page, spread the word!”
Followed by a link to his all-new Facebook page.
Sorbo is lucky he has his looks.
Because I can’t think of anything more utterly insane and small thinking than someone getting kicked off a platform hostile to them, then going to another platform that is equally hostile to them, to announce on the other platform how they just put up another page on the exact same platform that just kicked them off in the first place.
The point is this:
Lots of businesses are experiencing the exact same thing.
Or are at risk of such happening.
In my opinion, anyone to the right of Mother Jones who relies on a big tech platform is playing Russian Roulette at this point. If that’s you, understand they don’t like you. They don’t want to be your friend. And they don’t care if you are following all the rules, trying to stay out of trouble, and even keeping your beliefs to yourself.
As "Email Players" subscribers know from the April issue:
Business is not “just business”, it is WAR.
And all this incessant social media thought-policing & de-platforming is one of the weapons your enemy is using on you, or will use on you eventually.
Yes, even if you are keeping up with all the goal posts being moved.
Enter SocialLair.
It’s the social media platform Troy Broussard & I created for businesses & marketers that just want to do business, serve their customers, and not have to worry about their data being thrown over any creepy lines, want to run ads and sell on your own terms, and don’t like your customers/followers being in the greedy hands of technocrats who have shown they can yank it from you at any time… sometimes even while selling your customer data to your direct competitors.
Here’s how it works:
1. This week (until tomorrow, Friday June 11 at midnight EDT, or possibly earlier depending on demand) you can get a free test drive of it — after which free test drives will be closed for a while to “iron out” any lingering bugs & glitches, etc
2. Use it, fill it with content, even post ads inside & show it to your clients & colleagues if you want… and see if it “clicks” for you — with no credit card needed, and zero obligation
3. If you decide to subscribe during this test drive… you can have it for $35/month instead of the $50+/month it will cost in the future. Plus you will be “grandfathered” in for life at that price forever. (Barring any sudden rise in hard costs imposed on our systems due to 3rd party forces beyond our control — which is highly unlikely.)
Bottom line:
If’n you want to test drive it free, I highly recommend you do it today.
After multiple software launches I’ve seen how it ain’t like info products.
By that I mean, you don’t want thousands of people piling in right away. That only makes for a lot of frustrated & unhappy customers. It’s much better to grow slowly and roll out over time. Thus, the Friday deadline to get your free test drive may get abruptly shortened without warning. And, even people who get in for the test drive may not be able to buy for a while if you linger too long to make a decision once inside. And of course if that happens where we close it early due to demand… and you wait too long to buy it after taking your test drive, you will miss out on the above savings.
We shalt see how it goes.
Really, it all depends on the demand.
So this does not favor the procrastinator.
