Came a question from a raw & “wriggling” newbie:

hey ben,
im a subscriber to your daily emails, im 19 years old my mums dead, my dad has financial difficulties, so i decided to pick up copywriting as the skill to make some money, I wanted to ask what would you do if you were in my shoes and had no money how would you make it with copywriting

The answer:

These 5-words that can be found in Frank Sinatra’s excellent biography “Frank: The Voice” when it describes how Frank both got better at his craft while also getting booked with more gigs —

“Stay active, keep getting experience”

There is no way around this.

You can read all the fancy books you want.

You can go to all expensive masterminds you want.

You can invest in all the high ticket coaching you want.

But at the end of the day staying active and continuing to get experience is the key to the whole game — and without which even if you do get some copywriting work, you’ll simply accelerate the speed at which everyone finds out how inexperienced you are.

Another thing to think about:

If you’re a strategist and not a tactician, don’t be the “copywriter.”

Be the client.

By that I mean this:

Use your copywriting skills & experience to build your own business instead of someone else’s. Give yourself & your family a lifestyle instead of some client & his family. And, yes, keep all the money your ads rake in instead of handing the lion’s share to the other guy.

For guidance on that, check out my 10-Minute Workday program.

It’s sold by AWAI.

And if you get on the waiting list you’ll immediately get:

“The One Sentence Business Plan”

It's 100% free.

And it's something I wish someone had handed me when starting out.

Even if you don't want the program, I suggest downloading it and opt-out if you want.
