From feast or famine to fat & jammin’

Came a question about getting “done for you” service clients:

I have a done for you marketing service for gym owners to get more members.

I’m having a hard time getting conversions lately from email.

I’m trying to build and I have a CTA to get on a call with me in every email. I’m trying to build curiosity.

I’m emailing 4-5 times per week, but I’ll go for long stretches without anyone signing up for a call with me. Then I’ll get a whole bunch at once. It seems to be inconsistent - feast and famine - and I can’t find any pattern to it.

If I have around 2000 active contacts in my list and generating 3-5 sales calls per week and people say they love my emails. But I have no idea what is reasonable to expect from a list that small, but of course I want more!

I have a solid six-figure income but I’m trying to take this to the next level.

Do I switch up my offers? Email less? Build more curiosity? Shut up and be happy with what I’ve got?

Feeling a little lost.

My answer to his question is multi-fold.

And it can help eliminate the whole feast or famine nature of these kinds of businesses. It can also be applied by pretty much any non-freelance business (like what I have — info publishing and software, etc). But freelancers and services struggling for significance can especially benefit from it. And I answer the above question, along with a real-life example from a gym in New Jersey that’s booming while everyone else is shutting down, in the bonus elBenbo’s Lair insert inside the May “Email Players” issue.

Today’s the deadline to subscribe in time to get it.

When I send it to the printer today, the cart gets turned off.

And, that’ll be that.
