Why it's stupid on a stick to go into debt subscribing to a newsletter

Hi Ben,

I’m a longtime follower and have purchased a few products of yours in the past, including the [Enoch Wars] novels, the Villains series (all 3), and Brand Barbarian.

Interesting thing about just now subscribing to Email Players is that not subscribing to it several years ago played a big role in whatever success I’ve had in my career as a podcast host/editor/producer/show notes copywriter, etc.

I clearly remember you saying something like, “If you’re going to go into debt to do so, don’t buy Email Players.” Now, I believe that there is such a thing as wise debt, such as taking assuming a debt burden to delegate more tedious work so that one can focus on business-building activities. But the alacrity with which you said that (probably 3-4 years ago) made an impression on me.

At the time, I was of the “buy every shiny object you see, throw it to the wall and see what sticks” mentality - and my business (if you could call it that) was suffering for it. But that one comment in a sales email helped to shift my thinking to a more conservative, focused mentality.

Now I’m in a position to build my fledgling podcast production business into something special, and it was the point where subscribing was the sensible thing to do - and I didn’t have to go into debt to do so lol

I’m looking forward to diving into the materials after they arrive here in Vietnam and fine-tuning my writing skills to help build a strong, profitable business.

I appreciate your dedication to your craft, and the integrity with which you promote yourself and your products. It’s a breath of fresh air in this world of online commerce that wreaks of the rotting flesh of one and done ideas/gimmicks and shallow self-promotion.

You’re welcome to use this as a testimonial if you wish.

A very powerful lesson in and of itself.

And he's right about the debt.

It's stupid on a stick to take on debt to get a newsletter.

Which is why I suggest people not to subscribe to “Email Players” if it means going into debt. And those who already have it need only make the $3.63 per day it costs to break even.

If one can't even do that, maybe this business thing just isn't for them.

It should never “cost” anything.

It should pay you dividends.

But that only happens when the information is read, studied, and implemented.

Otherwise, what’s the point?

That said, the hour is late.

I’m about to send the April issue to the printer.

And after that, it gets turned off in the cart, and you miss out on what I believe is the single most important Email Players issue I’ve written in its 10-year publication.

An issue with no hacks or tricks or swipes.

An issue that is pure strategy.

An issue that is not going to do much good for the new product junkies always seeking “NEW!!!” but never do anything, or for goo-roo fanboys who can’t think past swipe & paste.

I cannot stress these things enough.

I do NOT want anyone wasting their money who won’t benefit from it.

Otherwise here’s the link one last time before it goes to the printer:
