List-building secret of an advisor to Presidents

Published: Sat, 02/27/21

I want to talk about my all-time favorite email list-building method.

For context here’s a little “mood quote” from “The 7 Lost Secrets of Success”:

“Bruce Barton was so famous that in 1938 an envious fellow wrote, ‘Almost every day there is a story about a man named Barton. Barton says, Barton suggests, Barton shakes hands, Barton laughs, Barton sneezes. It’s Barton, Barton, Barton everywhere.’”

In other words:

The great Bruce Barton — second “B” in the world famous BBDO ad agency), Congressman, adviser to Presidents (like Coolidge) & business pioneers (like Andrew Carnegie & Henry Ford), and copywriter par excellence (contemporary of John Caples - and who wrote the ad the famous Wall Street Journal 17+ year control was swiped from) — had not just “preeminence”, but also what the great Dan Kennedy likes to describe as:

“Omnipresence”

Everywhere people went, there he was.

Like a benevolent stalker haunting their every waking hour.

And while it’s not usually described as a “list building” strategy... in my experience, I can tell you without any hesitation, that finding and applying ways to make yourself omnipresent is one of the single greatest ways to build a responsive email list your business can ever benefit from.

How does one become Omnipresent?

The list of ways is long & distinguished.

And the March “Email Players” issue (starting on page 12) shows you 7 ways I personally (1) have used for my business (2) am using in my business (3) tested within my business and (4) will continually test on my business in the future.

Including the 3 (soon to be 4) tech businesses I own.

And on that note:

Tomorrow’s the deadline to subscribe in time for the March issue.

I don’t cater to procrastinators.

So if you are a procrastinator, you’re doomed if you wait until the last minute only to have something go wrong with your credit card or the the cart decides to fart and something goes wrong.

As for the grownups wanting to build a responsive email list?
