Not an economic prophet or even a Miss Cleo

Came a question last year right after the economy tanked:

Hello Ben,
How did you know? Having read your emails you predicted a crisis worse than that of 2008.

How did you know it would happen?

===

Short answer:

It's always been inevitable.

Longer answer:

I’m neither an economic prophet or even a late night TV prophet like the late Miss Cleo. I simply read what people much smarter than myself or any talking head on TV about economic matters have been saying for years.

To them this one's not a surprise at all.

If anything, it was almost right on schedule.

And some of these smart folks would argue the 2008 recession never technically ended in the first place.

More:

Plus, I’ve been on this planet long enough to have seen the cycle repeat itself many times, starting with the late 70’s “stagflation” and gas lines through the late 80’s crash, to the dot com and 9/11 problems, and up to the 2008 crash. The economy has always went in a very predictable cycle my entire life, with or without external events pushing it one way or the other. And, I remember hearing Robert Kiyosaki say in a cassette tape (cassettes!) back in 1999 that we were due for a major depression even back then.

The 2008 crash was so obvious it was astounding anyone was surprised by it.

I remember in 2006-ish, I lived in Southern Utah.

And, you could see the massive number of new homes being built, all the debt flowing, all the dumb money from other states fleeing from the very problems they created with their idiotic voting patterns flowing in, living high on the hog “on paper”, and you could practically smell the storm coming.

Same with the current one that people will be especially feeling this year.

Although, I did not expect it to hit quite like this and I doubt many others did, either.

Lockdowns and all that.

Whatever the case, here’s the lesson:

We don’t really have all that much control over the economy. But, what we all do have control over is how to react, adapt, and flow with it — whichever way the currents are going, to use it, instead of fighting against it for a hopefully smoother journey and landing.

Which brings me to… email.

There is nothing stopping you from — today — doing this:

1. Do something to build your list

2. Write emails to that list that sell something & while also building a relationship

3. Rinse & repeat every day

The only thing stopping you is you, Spanky.

You and your excuses, that is.

More:

I am not going to go into a ton of detail about this today but I will later this month. But there is also something else you can do to start making it so everything from competition, to price, to skill level, to economies, to government meddling, to big tech censorship, to even outright law changes rendering what you sell illegal by overzealous bureaucrats… completely irrelevant, and even more likely to enrich you.

It’s what the upcoming April “Email Players” issue is all about.

And ain’t nobody I ever heard of talking about the secret it contains.

Not in a business context, at least.

I’ll talk more about this later.
