The negotiation secret of a rejected Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears coach

Not long ago I was re-watching a documentary about the great football coach Mike Ditka.

And, there was an incredible persuasion & influence lesson embedded within.

Here’s the story:

Mike Ditka was the son of a tough union negotiator.

And, thus, grew up learning a lot of lessons about influence & persuasion watching and observing his father. And there was a method he used to not only get back in the good graces of the legendary Chicago Bears owner — George “Papa Bear” Halas — after having a bitter and devastating falling out with the man, but also persuade Mr. Halas to let Mike eventually become the Bears head coach.

A decision that, quite literally, changed the destiny of the Chicago Bears.

Anyway, how did he do it?

He did it with a letter he wrote to Halas.

A letter that brilliantly used the principle the late, great “World’s Most Feared Negotiator” Jim Camp taught as one of the cornerstones of his system of negotiation, and that I heard Jim used during his billion dollar negotiations during his career as a negotiator and business coach.

What was the principle?

Mr. Camp called it:

“Mission & Purpose”

This is something all the truly great negotiators, salesmen, politicians, ambassadors, and other highly influential men & women throughout history have always used to the max — whether on purpose or not, I am starting to notice. In fact, the US was founded by men who used this principle routinely, and it was something pretty much all of the great negotiators used up until (the way I understand it, at least) collective bargaining became enshrined in US law, and before the flawed “win-win” model of negotiation became the new standard.

Anyway, here's the rub down:

This concept is taught in detail and is embedded throughout Jim Camp’s “lost” negotiation tapes the Camp Estate unearthed in their vaults, that they sell for $597, but that they granted Michael Senoff the rights to sell for just $97.

Specifically:

* An 80+ minute video of Yours Crotchety showing you exactly how I have been applying Mr. Camp’s methods to my own business for over a decade

* An interview Michael did with David Garfinkel — The World’s Greatest Copywriting Coach — about how David applies Jim Camp’s methods to copywriting specifically. David is probably the only prominent copywriter left who learned directly at Jim’s feet, and had a decades-long association with him.

* An interview Michael did with Jim Camp’s son — Todd — who uses his father’s methodology to help some of the world’s biggest and most successful companies.
