Why I'm a polygamist

Published: Sun, 12/10/17

I was asked my opinion of merchant account services like Stripe, PayPal, ClickBank, etc. And, for some reason, the question made me think of a beer I saw sold in Utah called:

"Polygamy Porter"

The bottle has an illustration of a guy with several wives surrounding him, with the slogan:

"Why have just one?"

Thus, below's my *biased* opinion on the matter.

(Since I’m promoting a merchant account solution this weekend.)

And, also, why I'm an unrepentant "polygamist" when it comes to merchant accounts.

Here goes:

Stripe I think is great. Certainly good enough to get started or even if you've been at it a while. But good luck if you rely only on them, have a huge spike in sales, freak them out, and they shut you down (which has happened to people I know). Or if you want to load balance (which I am not sure if you can do or not) with other merchant accounts, or if they have a glitch during a launch, and you can't switch to anything else.

Same with PayPal.

I love PayPal, and use them for many things.

But, I would not rely on them as my only merchant account or build an entire business around just that. Plus, it’s hard to use them for continuity while using other merchant accounts, at least, in my shopping cart. In order to use them for continuity, I can ONLY use them and not my other merchant accounts (so my web guy discovered when we looked into it).

And Clickbank?

It can be great for affiliate marketers.

For a lot of them, it's their entire livelihood.

(Completely dependent on someone else's platform they have zero control over...)

What I specifically don’t like was how easy it was to defraud merchants on there when I used it (i.e. people buy your eBook, then refund in less time than they even had to go through it). Maybe they've changed and tightened that up since then, I have no idea. And, of course, if they’re your only merchant solution, you’re screwed if they pull the plug on you.

Anyway, I’m not saying any of these are bad solutions.

In fact, I think they all do great work and should be used in some capacity when it makes sense.

Frankly, if you aren't doing a lot of sales each month, they're probably the best option.

But, when you start making some decent sales, I wouldn't rely 100% on them. This is especially true if you want to have a profitable and growing business that can’t be arbitrarily shut down on a whim because you relied on one merchant account, don’t have someone who has your back in case of chargeback problems, and have all your sales, shopping carts, and websites dependent on them.

That’s the main reason I’m promoting what Glenn Livingston is doing.

(And, why I am also a recent client of his.)

He can hook you up with:

1. Multiple merchant accounts (so you don’t rely on one)

2. Merchants that are suitable for what you sell

3. Merchant accounts with extremely good rates

4. Charge back help, etc if you need it

5. Costs you nothing extra to use them (they are paid by the merchant accounts, not you).

To further “sweeten” the pot, I’m also offering this:

If you secure a merchant account through his services, and if you send me your first statement, I will give you a free copy of my not-yet-released “Email Players Lifestyle” product — which will show you how to adapt your current business (it’s not for newbies or people with no list or offer) to my business structure, so you can work a helluva lot less and pull more sales.

If you want it, here it is come and get it:
