My ex-copywriting apprentice once told me how, when she was in her late teens, she got mad at her mom for something. And, because she was mad at her mom, she said something bad or disrespectful about her in front of her dad. Her dad was sharpening a knife at the time, and handed her the knife.
“I want you to go in there and stab your mom in the back,” he said.
“What?”
“Go ahead. Take this knife, and stab her right in the back.”
“Daddy!”
“The Bible says words are as sharp as a two-edged sword. When you say something disrespectful or bad about your mother, it’s just like stabbing her right in the back.”
How’s that for a story?
