Did I just get caught with my pants down about deleting my Twitter?
Published: Tue, 02/12/19
“Aren’t you banned on Twitter…”
My answer:
“I deleted it in November, along with all other social media”
To which I got a reply with a screenshot of my old Twitter handle (@BenSettle) saying "account suspended".
i.e. Banned!
I suppose that's better than people contacting me thinking I blocked them, like what kept happening when I originally deleted it, and it would just say user not found or page not found when I verified its deletion.
But my guess?
Someone grabbed the handle after I left and spammed people with it or whatever.
I heard via "Email Players" subscriber Lauren Hazel this exact thing recently happened to Marvel Comics writer David Walker.
Or, perhaps something else happened, like maybe Captain Virtue Signal Twitter CEO @jack saw me eating a Chick-fil-A burger.
Who knows?
Whatever the case, it's been useful to find this out.
And there are two reasons why:
1. It got me to thinking about how it’d have been much better if I really had been suspended/banned — even if I had to engineer it happening myself, which would not have been difficult. Then, after the banning, I could have treated it like responding to trolls... using it to my advantage, and making a bit of dough off it. At the very least, I could have done a nice, juicy "Banned by Twitter sale" following the system and peculiarities of such a sale I teach in "Copy Troll."
Doesn't do me much good now in the short term.
But, could be useful to remember in the future...
2. It also got me to thinking about something else:
A handful of people missed the "Copy Troll" launch $100 discount sale this past weekend.
The vast majority of these blokes were straight-up procrastinators.
But a few, for whatever email gremlin reasons, simply didn't see them (I just found out long-time customer and "Email Players" subscriber Christi Johnson wasn't getting any emails from anyone using the email broadcast service I use since January...) Thus, here's what I'll do to shamelessly further my evil capitalist goals, and also let any stragglers who missed it (whether their fault or not) in on a deal.
I'm putting "Copy Troll" on sale now, and until tonight at midnight EST.
(i.e. "tonight" being Tuesday, Feb 12th at midnight EST).
But, I am not offering it for as generous a discount as the action-takers got.
Instead, it goes like this:
Until tonight's deadline, I will let people have it for $383.00 instead of the $433.00, which is a $50 discount (vs the $100 launch discount last weekend), and I still pay the shipping and give you the "Stefania Files: Volume One" bonus.
If you want in on this, here's what to do:
1. Go to the URL below before tonight's deadline
2. Type in the number "50" (without the quotes) in the coupon code box at the shopping cart.
(Make sure you see the price change before entering any details)
