Yet another reason to ignore copywriting gurus on Facebook

Published: Mon, 04/08/19

A few months back, one of my “Email Players” subscribers showed me something a well-known copywriting guru taught in a Flakebook group.

Here’s what happened:

A guy asked the group about where they can learn about writing fun, polarizing, and “edutainment” emails from other than from Yours Crotchety.

To which said guru said he doesn’t get off on those types of emails.

And, feels prospects don’t want a doctor joking around, etc.

All of which I found rather amusing.

Why?

Because I have always taught people to modulate everything I teach to their market first. Market first, tactics second. For example, we didn’t convert almost 50% of our list in weight loss by joking around about the problem, or going all “Ben Settle” on them.

No, I adapted all the copy to the market.

Not just the emails, but also the sales letters, too.

It was always all about the market.

Anyway, it was a timely example, because my newly updated Copy Slacker book (which is on sale for $300.00 off the regular price until Friday at midnight EST) spends a lot of time on how to research and approach your copy from a “market first” position. In fact, it even includes several sales letter analyses in one of the appendixes — where you can see how I approached different markets with more serious tones (like weight loss, parents looking for college funding for their kids, etc) as far as tone and style, all modulated to the people in it.

The point?

If you want to learn how I do it, ignore these gurus who can’t even be bothered to get all the facts first before nattering on about what I do, and learn from the source.

Anyway, to get my updated Copy Slacker book at a $300 discount, go here:

http://www.EmailPlayers.com/slacker

Deadline to get the discount is Friday night at midnight EST.

Ben Settle

P.S. Also, a special note for prior Copy Slacker customers:

If you bought the original Copy Slacker version directly from me or my old podcast, email me at ben@bensettle.com *by* the above deadline (if you email me after it, you're out of luck), along with your receipt, and I will let you have it for the new $724.00 price minus the cost you paid for it.

For example:

If you bought the original version for $595.00, you can have this new one for $129.00. If you bought it when it was on sale for $495.00, you can have this new version for $229.00, etc.

Again, besides the 491-page swipe file, it’s about 85% the same info.

So you’ll have to determine if it’s worth buying this updated version or not…
