His name is Dr. Larry Nassar.
And he was the USA Gymnastics national team doctor.
He was an osteopathic physician at Michigan State University, too.
And, also, a guy who molested dozens of former patients (two under the age of 13, and as young as 6) — at his office and gym, and sometimes with their parents standing by while it was going on, completely oblivious.
Anyway, it was a gruesome and evil thing.
Not just the acts, though.
But, also, that so many parents blindly trusted him, put their skepticism aside, and even celebrated his skill, probably considering him a genius, brilliant, and so on.
Well, guess what?
There’s a reason why quacks (even monster quacks) get away with this.
It’s the same reason why pretty much all doctors (good, bad, talented, amateur, saintly or outright evil) are treated with this kind of reverence. And I’m not talking about the Medical School prestige, awards, good grades, doctor title, irrational confidence, social proof, flashy car, trophy wife, or any of the obvious suspects on why this happens.
I’m talking about something far more persuasive.
Something any freelance copywriter can do to get similar prestige and trust from clients, too.
