The greatest internet marketer nobody knows
Published: Mon, 12/10/18
Being a contrarian, this guy’s first reaction was:
“that must mean a lot of money can be made on it…”
And then, he proceeded to do just that.
In fact, this guy held the first conference ever created on how businesses could sell on this new “flash in the pan” media called the internet. And, at the time, he and the small number of people who agreed with him were considered the village idiots of Silicon Valley.
“Fast forward” in time and since then, this guy:
1. Published the first print newspaper just about selling online — and predicted, over a decade in advance — the power and influence video would have (he commissioned a writer to write about it at the time, who all but laughed in his face saying, “we can’t do anything with video online…”, who do you think is laughing now?)
2. Was the first “pioneer” (he got all the arrows for us) of legitimate email advertising, banner ads, pay-per-click, and, yes, video. (He is even credited in Time magazine with originating the idea of using click-through rates as the key metric of website performance. If that tells you anything…)
3. Became the “internet marketing guy” for Dan Kennedy, who does not suffer fools gladly, from what I hear…
4. Trained many of the “big names” of internet marketing in the early days — like the great Perry Marshall, for example. (As well as dozens of others — including some of who turned on him when he started calling out their bull shyt. See the next point…)
5. Is so despised by some of the shadier big name goo-roo types that, when I had lunch with Brian Kurtz during Ryan Lee’s first Freedym Fest event, Brian said some of these gurus said they wouldn’t attend Brian’s historic Titans of Direct Response event if this guy spoke (which just made Brian that much more excited to have him speak there…)
6. Is one of the best copywriters I know, who is in my top 4 favorite all-time copywriting and marketing teachers (up there with Gary Bencivenga, Gary Halbert, and Matt Furey — the best of the best)
7. He held the first and most successful internet marketing seminar — creating the format and template other so-called gurus copied
8. I also interviewed this guy many years ago and, that interview is one of the most popular, most valuable, and most in-demand interviews I’ve ever done
For example:
I wrote a blog post back in 2008 telling my list if they bought this guy’s new (at the time) book (easily my favorite all-time business book) I would give them this interview — and I STILL get people finding that post, buying the book, and demanding the interview, and then raving to me about how much it changed their entire views on copywriting, selling online, and marketing with integrity while still being exciting and interesting.
More:
Even with all this history, he is virtually unknown to most people today.
And the reason why is, he dropped out of the internet education game for several years. And, in that time, he saw just how much worse things got as far as bad information being spread around, unethical guru-types pissing on their customers while telling them its raining via selling watered-down black-hat nonsense, and recently came out of “retirement” to teach again via a seminar in Chicago. (He even had Yours Fanboy do a short talk on book marketing, via skype to the audience, since I couldn’t make it and be in the room physically, was a lot of fun.)
Anyway, who is this internet marketer nobody knows?
This unsung hero of internet business?
This guy I respect so much I did an entire podcast about him last summer?
It is none other than the great Ken McCarthy.
And do you remember how I just said I used to give an interview I did with him to people who bought his book?
Well, I decided to take that blog post down.
And, instead, I will give you this interview free if you simply opt-in to his website and follow the instructions below.
By the way, some of the tips Ken revealed in this interview include:
* How to write profitable ads for your business right out the gate -- without needing any copywriting books, formulas, or swipe files.
* A scientifically proven way (discovered by neurologists) to transform your frustration with writing ads into boundless creative energy.
* A $13 book (not even about copywriting) that can teach you more about writing irresistible bullet points than most advanced copywriting seminars.
* Why tossing your order forms on the street can increase your response by as much as 30%.
* How to use your telephone to double your sales without doing any tele-marketing or even dialing any numbers.
* An "almost fool proof" way of knowing if the market is going to respond to your ads before testing it or showing it to anyone.
* What Ken learned from corresponding with the late (great) copywriting genius Eugene Schwartz.
* How to create professional looking Internet video ads on a "shoestring" budget.
* A single, "magic word" (often used with CNN newscasts) that will have your prospects glued to your ads -- even with a hundred other ads competing for their attention.
* A secret way to use your TV set to raise your IQ by as much as 10 points. (And without even turning it on!)
* How the legendary copywriter Mel Martin wrote ads so powerful people would order from them without even knowing what the price was.
* And a ho’ bunch more.
Here is the deal:
1. Opt-in to his website at the link below before Tuesday 12/11 (tomorrow) night at midnight EST.
2. Forward me the “welcome” email *before* that day/time.
3. And I will send you a link to the MP3 of this interview
But, let me be clear:
You must forward me the welcome email *before* the deadline.
If you forward it to me after the deadline, even if you opted-in to his list before the deadline, no interview for you. If you aren't seeing this email until after the deadline, are prone to getting your time zones confused (like me... which is why I respond early to offers I want, it's not rocket science), or if you foolishly procrastinate and wait too long... you're out of luck.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
And, I've always been a "letter of the law" kinda guy...

P.S. If you have my Copywriting Grab Bag product, you already have this interview. But, I would still highly suggest you hop on his list anyway.
